Natalie, 2.5 participated in our Netcoaching program. Within three months, she was fully tube weaned, improved her oral skills, and even gained weight. Her family is very proud of her.
Natalie is a 2.5-year-old girl. Due to failure to thrive and her underlying medical condition, she was tube-fed via an NG feeding tube. After her medical situation stabilized, her mother decided to enroll her in the Netcoaching program. During tube weaning, she managed to increase her oral interest and food intake. Only three months after starting tube weaning, she was able to sustain herself completely orally. Due to her underlying medical diagnosis, she needed to be fed by a finger feeder. She enjoyed her special high-caloric milk and was already gaining weight by the end of treatment. NoTube’s team members and her parents are very proud of her.
Tell us about your experiences with the eating or feeding situation of your child (with or without a tube) before, during and after the treatment. How did you feel during the program? What was difficult, what was easy? What kind of changes did you notice in your child? Please share with other parents what you care about most ...:
I didn't have any hopes of weaning her off the tube. The start of the program was a little hard for me because I had to write everything to the team, and I was feeling a little pressure at first.
After that, my daughter got covid, and we had to pause the program. After she was better, we restarted, and the doctors all gave me advice to try different utensils to feed her. She finally accepted being fed with a finger feeder, and little by little, she was eating more and more every meal, and this is how we stopped her tube feeds.
I started feeling more confident about her abilities and about myself also. Now she is more interested in playing with different types of food, and she even tries to taste them with her tongue and touch with her lips.
