Lea
Lea has been consuming only liquid food orally for many months. She refused to eat any other food. At the eating school, she learned to eat other, more solid foods again, and she was able to build on her successes at home with online coaching.
Lea is 6 years old. She stopped eating solid foods quite some time ago, and the reason for it remains unknown. Her food intake mostly consisted of liquids and high-calorie supplemental drinks through a straw, which covered her nutritional needs. Occasionally she would accept some soup. The parents decided to participate in an Eating School with our online eating therapy through our Learn to Eat program as stress and pressure during meals continued despite numerous local therapy approaches. Lea was highly motivated from day one. Within a few weeks, she was able to eat pureed and solid foods. Additionally, she gained self-confidence and independence in her eating skills. The NoTube team is incredibly proud of her.
Tell us about your experiences with the eating or feeding situation of your child (with or without a tube) before, during and after the treatment. How did you feel during the program? Our daughter Lea was never a big eater, and eating has always been an issue connected with problems, negativity, and pressure. In January 2023, she started only wanting to drink cocoa (without any explainable reason) and refused any other foods. After many attempts to get help, we found out that there was a high-caloric supplemental drink that we could offer Lea, so she wouldn’t get any malnutrition or other problems. We tried that, and Lea accepted the high-caloric chocolate drink. She refused all other types of flavors. All attempts to get Lea excited about other foods failed. Since then, Lea was taking exclusively liquid nutrition, and the situation started to get worse, not better. It impacted several parts of Lea’s life and negatively impacted our family life. So, we decided to contact NoTube, and Lea qualified for participation in an Eating School with an online eating therapy through our Learn to Eat program.
Of course, one is filled with a bit of hesitation at the beginning, but we didn’t put our expectations too high, so we wouldn’t fall further. The beginning takes a bit to get used to since all the therapists are watching you to get a better picture of your situation. But you get used to it quite quickly, especially when you get the first tips and tricks, and you see improvement. For us, this happened after 5 days when Lea ate a piece of pizza. This makes all the strange feelings and initial hesitations go away. We can only emphasize that we had full confidence in the supportive and competent therapists and tried to follow all their advice to the best of our abilities. The “NoTube Magic” worked wonders for all our family members, and it is more than just support. We can whole heartedly recommend NoTube! We tried many different solutions, but nothing worked and time was passing rapidly. NoTube was the only program that really succeeded in recognizing the problem, addressing it, and solving it in the end.
In the meantime, 4 months have passed since we participated in the eating school and Lea’s eating remains great. She eats pretty much anything, wants to try anything and decide on her own if she does or doesn’t like it. It feels incredible for us as parents, and our whole quality of life for our family of four is a highest it has ever been. So dearest NoTube team - Thank you! Keep doing what you are doing!
