Select Me
When eating becomes a daily struggle and concerns about meals shape family life.
Highly selective eating and ARFID – understanding, supporting, relieving
Your child only eats a very limited range of different foods. Certain smells, tastes, colors or textures are consistently refused. This highly selective eating behavior often appears in early childhood—sometimes quite suddenly—and can intensify over time.
The causes and connections are varied: Many children are especially sensitive to sensory input or have difficulty accepting new things. This selective eating behavior may be related to sensory processing and frequently occurs alongside autism spectrum disorders or ADHD. Eating and drinking often become a major burden in everyday life for these children and their families.
If the range of foods is severely limited, important nutrients are missing and/or growth and social participation are impaired, experts refer to this behaviour as ARFID – Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. It is not only about weight or development, but about how food is perceived and experienced. Another widely used term for this eating behavior is “picky eating.”

Our program: Select Me
After a positive assessment, your family gains access to our secure online platform and begins treatment immediately. There, daily interaction with our experienced treatment team takes place—through written communication, video calls, and daily support, including weekends and holidays.
The program goes for three months and is divided into three phases:
- Introduction phase: Developing a shared understanding of the situation and setting treatment goals.
- Treatment phase: Daily support and individualized guidance regarding meals (focusing on the parent–child relationship), food selection, and eating environment.
- Final phase: Reviewing progress and planning the next steps after the program.

In addition to daily online support, there are 1–2 video calls per week—medical, therapeutic, or psychological, depending on need. Furthermore group sessions offer sensory activities for children, expert input, and parent-to-parent exchange. The goal of the program is to develop new approaches to eating behavior—step by step, individually, and integrated into everyday life in order to gradually expand the range of foods your child eats.
